NORFOLK BESPOKE SOFT FURNISHINGS COMPANY BEATING THE RECESSION

Despite the current economic crisis, Norfolk bespoke soft furnishings company, Brian Fisher & Sons, is bucking market trends by expanding and growing their handmade soft furnishings and made-to-measure curtains business.

Established 24 years ago by Brian Fisher, the company, as the name suggests, is all about family. Now run by his identical twin sons Paul and Stephen, Brian Fisher & Sons specialises in hand-made curtains and bespoke soft furnishings. Boasting an impressive client list, including John Lewis, The Silk Trading Company at Harrods and Liberty, the company prides itself on its innovative approach, outstanding quality and customer service.

In spite of the deepening recession, Brian Fisher & Sons are busier than ever and have recently found fame on the Channel Four hit series, The Home Show, in which celebrity architect George Clarke visits homes across the country and helps the homeowners fall back in love with their houses.

Brian Fisher & Sons were approached by London based production company, Tiger Aspect, to consult and supply soft furnishings on four of the episodes. These episodes, which featured their bespoke blinds, made-to-measure curtains and hand-stitched soft furnishings, have now aired and already they are seeing how their spot in the limelight is helping their business.

Paul Fisher, Company Director, said:

“As a high-end soft furnishings manufacturer, we deal predominately with corporate clients and interior designers, but the show has created a real interest from the general public, which is extremely exciting. Following the Parsons Green show, for which we supplied not only bespoke curtains but hand-stitched loose and fitted chair covers and scatter cushions, we have had a number of enquiries, as well as an order for the exact same cushions that appeared on the show.”.

Despite their success and the growing order book, the brothers are aware that the market could change, so they’ve implemented a programme of investment into the company to ensure that they continue to offer clients outstanding service, as well as the superlative quality which is synonymous with their work.

As well as the design and marketing team at Dynamite Creative, with whom they have worked for 5 years, they have now appointed an external PR consultancy, Stevenson Consulting, to grow their profile both locally and nationally. In addition, they have appointed a full time Marketing Executive, who will handle all enquiries, as well as manage future marketing and pr campaigns. They are also currently recruiting additional curtain makers, to expand their highly experienced team.

Stephen Fisher explained:

“ We are keen to continue to expand Brian Fisher & Sons despite the current economic crisis. By appointing a PR Consultant and on-site Marketing Executive, to work alongside our marketing and creative team, we aim to weather the recession and maintain our outstanding reputation leading to increasing orders when the market improves.”.

In addition, they have re-launched their website – www.brianfisher.co.uk . The site has been dramatically updated from their previous traditional look, to a more contemporary styling, which reflects how they have evolved the business in the last few years. As well as being more user friendly, it includes their unique on-line tracking tool.

Looking towards their 25th anniversary next year, they are already planning how to mark the occasion and are confident there will be much to celebrate.
