LOCAL FIRM ONCE AGAIN CHOSEN BY PRIME TIME HIT TV SHOW

Norfolk bespoke soft furnishings company, Brian Fisher & Sons, has once again grabbed the attention of television producers.

Twofour Productions approached the company’s directors, brothers Brian and Stephen Fisher, to supply handmade blinds, curtains and soft furnishings for the hit Channel Five series, The Hotel Inspector. Having already worked with Tiger Aspect Productions supplying blinds, curtains and soft furnishings for four episodes of Channel Four’s The Home Show, the brothers were delighted to assist.

The programme, in which award-winning hotelier Alex Polizzi visits run down hotels across the country and lends her advice and expertise to turn them into profitable ventures, has proved a hit for Channel Five and Brian Fisher & Sons were brought in to provide handmade blinds, curtains and soft furnishings.

The episode Brian Fisher & Sons worked on featured The Swan Hotel, which is only a five minute drive from where they have their workrooms in Harleston, Norfolk. Their brief was to re-cycle old bedspreads and bed runners, which had been acquired from the Marriott hotel chain, and transform them into bespoke curtains and blinds for the bar, dining room and reception area. In addition, they were asked to manufacture the upholstery for the snug.

Paul Fisher, Company Director, Brian Fisher & Sons, said:

“As a high-end soft furnishings manufacturer, it was a challenge creating products to our customary bespoke quality out of recycled materials but our team worked extremely hard and created some fantastic products. The timescale we had to work to was also extremely tight and in the end, we were in shot hanging the curtains in the lounge, as the production team hurried to finish the make-over.”.

Established 24 years ago by Brian Fisher, the company, as the name suggests, is all about family. Now run by his identical twin sons Paul and Stephen, Brian Fisher & Sons specialises in bespoke handmade curtains, blinds and soft furnishings, including a wide range of headboards. Boasting an impressive client list, including John Lewis, The Silk Trading Company at Harrods and Liberty, the company prides itself on its innovative approach, outstanding quality and customer service.

All the curtains, blinds and soft furnishings are hand-sewn by Brian Fisher & Sons’ team of dedicated seamstresses. However, despite its traditional approach to manufacturing the products, the brothers embrace the latest technology to enhance other aspects of their business and have recently launched their new website, featuring their on-line tracking system. The technology, which allows customers to track their order so they know exactly what stage it has reached any time of the day or night, was one of the first such systems in the country.

Although they have greatly enjoyed their television experiences, the brothers are now focused on the next big area of expansion for the company – headboards. Having recently seen a significant upturn in orders for this arm of their business, they are keen to develop headboard production to keep it in line with public demand.

Stephen Fisher, Company Director, Brian Fisher & Sons explained:

“We offer a wide range of headboards and every aspect of production is carried out in-house. We have a specialist upholsterer and currently offer 16 different basic headboard designs, which can be varied by clients to give them a bespoke, handmade product.”.

Brian Fisher & Sons are delighted that their approach to the bespoke soft furnishings industry, encompassing tradition and technology, appeals to mainstream television producers as well as fulfilling the requirements of their existing customers and they look forward to continued success in the coming months.
